Massage therapy is an ancient form of healing which has been used for thousands of years. Ancient China is believed to be the first known civilisation to have used the therapeutic techniques of massage in 3000 BC and as time went by its popularity grew and different forms and styles of massage were developed. Out of this, the Swedish Full Body Massage emerged which was attributed to a Swedish fencing master called Per Henrik Ling (1776-1839). He developed a system which he called the Ling System also known as the Swedish Movement Treatment and, over time, this was re-developed with contributions from other famous practitioners into what is known today as Swedish Body Massage or Holistic Massage.
Holistic massage is carried out today all over the world and it works on two levels, physiologically and psychologically i.e. the body and the mind.
